Hey! I’m Jay

I’ve loved flowers my whole life. I draw them, paint them, photograph them, and pipe them in buttercream. My background in painting shapes how I approach everything here; color, form, and figuring out what makes each flower recognizable. After exploring flowers across different mediums over the years, buttercream is the one I keep coming back to. There’s something genuinely satisfying about finding a flower, studying it, and figuring out how to translate it into something edible.

How It Started

I started Alchemy Sweets to sell cupcakes and share decorating inspiration. Florals were always the focus, it made sense given everything else I was already doing. Over time it grew into a full buttercream flower blog, and here we are.

Where Nature Meets Buttercream

Alchemy Sweets is based in Canada, where my garden meets my kitchen. My garden is my biggest resource of creative inspirations, and that thread runs through everything here, from the flowers I pipe to the seasonal recipes I bake. Whether I’m in the garden or out on a trail, nature always finds its way into my work.

Some of my most treasured recipes come from my late grandmother’s handwritten cookbook. Getting to recreate and share some of her recipes alongside my own is something I feel really lucky to do.

My Creative Process

Everything on this blog is made by me. I write every post, take and edit all the photos, film and edit my own videos, and test every recipe in my home kitchen. My goal is to make tutorials that are easy to follow at home, whether you’re just starting out or looking to push your skills further. I also hope to spark a little inspiration and imagination along the way.
