I’ve always been drawn to all things macabre and Halloween—from the skulls to the eerie traditions—but I also treasure the magic and joy that Christmas brings. As a self-proclaimed spooky girl at heart, I couldn’t resist blending my love for both and creating my own Creepmas cupcakes for a perfectly spooky holiday celebration!
Each of these cupcakes is designed to add a playful yet dark touch to your holiday baking. They blend the cheer of Christmas with a spooky flair, making them perfect for a Creepmas celebration or any time you want to share a treat that’s a little bit different.
I baked chocolate cupcakes in red silicone liners, which matched the decorations perfectly!
1. Black Buttercream Wreath with Skull & Bone Sprinkles

The idea for this design came from a fellow spooky girl (you know who you are), and it’s easily one of my favorite things I’ve piped on a cupcake!
This cupcake brings a beautifully eerie vibe with its black buttercream wreath, and a bold red buttercream bow. Skull and bone sprinkles add the perfect gothic touch, turning this classic wreath into something that belongs in a spooky holiday wonderland.
Watch a short clip of this cupcake coming to life here.
Materials Used:
- Black buttercream frosting
- Red buttercream frosting
- Skull & bone sprinkles
- Cupcake base of your choice (chocolate works great for this)
- Wilton 32 for the wreath (different pressure to achieve small/big stars)
- Ateco 67 for the bow
For instruction on how to pipe a wreath and bow with these tips, take a look at my Christmas Wreath Cupcake post and refer to the Basic Wreath and Ruffle Wreath (for the bow).
Notes:
- Ateco 67 tip is the same tip as Wilton 70, just smaller
- The bone sprinkles are from a Wilton Graveyard Tombstones & Bones Decorating Kit
- The cute skull sprinkles are from a Halloween sprinkle blend from Sweetapolita
2. Black Buttercream Christmas Tree with Skull & Bone Sprinkles

Give your holiday cupcakes a gothic twist! This black buttercream Christmas tree is topped with a red buttercream bow and surrounded by snowy shredded coconut. Candy melt skull and bone sprinkles add a hauntingly festive vibe. This cupcake is perfect for anyone who enjoys a little spooky touch with their holiday traditions.
Materials Used:
- Black buttercream frosting
- Red buttercream for the bow
- Shredded coconut
- Candy melt skull (white chocolate would work too)
- Halloween bone sprinkles
- Cupcake base of your choice
- Wilton 32 for the tree
- Ateco 67 for the bow
Flat ice the cupcake prior to piping anything. This gives the tree and shredded coconut something to stick to. For instructions on using the Ateco 67 tip to create a bow, be sure to check out my Christmas Wreath Cupcake – Ruffle Wreath. For a step-by-step guide on how to pipe a buttercream swirl, take a look at my step by step Christmas Tree swirl. Add some buttercream to the backside of the candy melt skull to adhere it to the cupcake.
Notes:
- Ateco 67 tip is the same tip as Wilton 70, just smaller
- The bone sprinkles are from a Wilton Graveyard Tombstones & Bones Decorating Kit
- Silicone mold used for candy melt skull from Michaels
3. Candy Melt Skull with Santa Hat

Add a touch of holiday mischief with this design! A candy melt skull rocking a buttercream Santa hat, sitting on a base of black buttercream squiggles for that perfect festive-meets-spooky vibe. It’s a fun and quirky nod to Christmas for anyone who loves a little darkness in their holiday cheer.
Materials Used:
- Black buttercream frosting
- Candy melt skull (white chocolate would work too)
- Red and white buttercream for the Santa hat
- Wilton 32 for the black base
- Wilton 101 for the santa hat
- Ateco 17 for the white fluff
I piped the Santa hat the same technique as the Ribbon Christmas Tree. For the black base, I created zigzag lines, similar to what I did on this cupcake here (steps 6 through 9). I applied three rows of zigzags, starting from the edges and working my way to the center to cover the entire base.
Happy decorating!
